Who is Vecna in Stranger Things?
Vecna is the main antagonist in the Fourth and Fifth seasons of Stranger Things. He was a human with psychic and psychokinetic powers. He was taken in by Martin Brenner to the Hawkins National Laboratory and studied.
Eventually he used his psychic powers to murder the test subjects and staff at the Hawkins National Laboratory. He was banished to the alternate dimension known as the Upside Down and transformed into Vecna there.
How did Henry become Vecna?
After Henry’s massacre at the Hawkins Lab, Eleven banishes Henry to the Upside Down by opening a gate. Henry is disfigured by the environment of the Upside Down. He used his powers to survive and gradually transformed into Vecna.
Why did Vecna target Chrissy?
When a psychic contact is made between the Upside Down and the human world, a “gate” is opened. These gates are bridges between dimensions, allowing for instantaneous travel from one plane of existence to another. These gates would allow Vecna to travel to the human world.
He targeted Chrissy because she had depressive symptoms as a result of her mother’s emotional abuse. Vecna tends to prey on individuals who are deeply traumatized, mentally vulnerable, or struggling with insecurity. During the victims’ death the psychic connection formed between Vecna and his victim is strong enough to open a gate.
What does Vecna do to his victims?
During Season 4, Vecna probed the minds of his victims and focused on the tormented ones. He then stalked, mentally tortured his victims by inducing hallucinations. Finally, he killed them in a brutal manner by snapping their limbs and gouging out their eyes.
During Season 5, he targeted children by appearing as Henry and being friendly. After gaining their confidence he abducts them using Demogorgons.
Why is Vecna obsessed with Will?
Will was the first person Vecna connected to the hive mind when he was brought into the Upside Down. He was the Mind Flayer’s first vessel.
Vecna told Will that he was weak and broke easily. He was the first successful experiment.
Why did Vecna let Nancy live?
Vecna wanted Nancy to act as a messenger to Eleven and everyone else. He wanted to make his work known. Since Nancy had already had pieced Vecna’s story together, he revealed to her the rest.
Why is Vecna so powerful?
Vecna absorbs the minds and powers of the ones he kills. Therefore, his powers increase with every murder. After being banished to the Upside Down, he got connected to the hive mind allowing him to control the creatures there thereby increasing his influence and power.
What is Vecna’s Goal?
At the moment Vecna’s goal seems to be the eradiction of humanity. He believes humans are poisoning the world. He believes himself to be a predator like spiders who feed on the weak and bring balance and stability.
When does Vecna attack Max?
Vecna first attack Max on March 24, 1986. When Max visits Billy’s grave to read a letter she wrote, ridden with guilt and grief Vecna seizes the opportunity. He induces hallucinations in Max and torments her by showing her visions of Billy. She is saved by Dustin, Lucas and Steve by using information from Nancy and Robin who learn that music can break Vecna’s hold.
The second attack on Max takes at Creel House when she offers herself as bait to help the Hawkins group execute their plan to kill Vecna. During Max’s intentional attempt to lower her mental defenses, Vecna attacks her. Eleven fights Vecna inside Max’s mind and manages to break Vecna’s hold and stop him before completing the kill. However, Max is left in a coma with blindness and broken limbs.
Where does Vecna live?
Vecna currently lives in the Upside Down.
As a child he lived in the Creel House in Hawkins where his abilities first manifested and where he committed his earliest murders.
During his years as One, he lived under Dr. Brenner’s supervision at the Hawkins National Laboratory. He murdered the other test subjects and staff members at the laboratory and was banished to the Upside Down by Eleven.
